Commander’s Report – April 2018

posted in: Uncategorized | 0

This month we installed new elected and appointed post officers and I begin my last year of service as your post commander.

Two years ago we entered uncharted territory as post members and their families, UCM students and Boy Scout adult leaders renovated the post building with new windows, a new floor and fresh paint.

Today, the shed is clean, the kitchen is clean, volunteers are cleaning around the lake and we have plans to work on beautifying the landscaping.

We are more active in the community, beginning outreach to the UCM Fighting Mules Battalion, working with CropWalk to help the hungry of Johnson County, and continuing to be the voice for veterans in Warrensburg.

Plans for the year include developing a strategic plan and budget for the post, fundraising including more Buddy Poppy fundraisers for the Relief Fund and holding a successful rifle raffle, ensuring we are conducting business according to the by-laws, stronger recruiting to eligible veterans and rechartering the Post Auxiliary.

We have veterans in nursing homes that need visiting and care, soldiers deploying around the world who need attention and veterans in our town who need someone to shake their hand.

Please join us as we honor and serve veterans,

Sincerely,

Commander Teresa Shane
